Below is progress on our property from March 4, 2012 through July 2012. To see previous updates click on the page titled "Previous Updates on Property."
We have not been able to get to the property much lately, but we have made a bit of progress and have done some preparations for the winter. We were able to get a bit more siding put up. The wall closest to the water is completely done now, and the door side wall has most of the boards up. We just need to put up trim and the battens on this wall.
We also built a hearth under our wood stove. We used rocks from the beach and concrete to create the pad. It turned out well, we just need to replace the wood aroud the edge that created the form.
We also built a wood shed and cut some firewood. We used only scrap wood, a chainsaw, tar paper, a tape measure, a hammer and nails. It looks a little rustic, but will suit our needs. We also moved the generator to this shed while running. So now it is a lot quieter in the cabin while the generator is running.
We also milled some more siding, decking and interior boards for the bathroom. The siding is yellow cedar, the decking is hemlock and the interior boards are red cedar.
We also planed the red cedar boards and beveled the edges, they are drying inside the cabin now and will be ready to put up as soon as we paint the upper-half of the bathroom walls and the ceiling.
